Dusk had begun, and the session was ending.
In the fading light, as she played the cello, I almost stopped breathing.
It wasn’t just music. It was the sound and the tremors of a human voice, deeply moving, hauntingly beautiful. Photography – a skill in which I had so callously claimed expertise – suddenly became a struggle. No picture could ever describe how I felt.
We photographers tell people that we provide an “experience” – what does that even mean?? In this magical moment, I was on the receiving end, I was invited into the private world of a fellow human, and I drowned in an experience I may never forget.
